Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) workshop schedule Trimester 1
You will need to attend 10 workshops including three noho marae during your degree. They are held in central regional locations including:
- Northland
- Auckland
- Hamilton
- Tauranga
- Palmerston North
- Wellington
- Christchurch
- Dunedin.
The exact location will depend on student numbers. You will automatically be allocated to workshops in the location closest to you. Details of your workshop registration will be emailed to you seven to 10 days prior to the workshop.

Noho marae workshops
Noho marae workshops are held over two days at urban and rural marae around New Zealand. They will give you the opportunity to build your skills and knowledge required to teach effectively in a bicultural context. The workshops are held for the following courses:
- 75103 Tangata Whenua 1
- 75201 Tangata Whenua 2
- 75301 Learning, Development & Culture and Tangata Whenua 3.
First year workshops
In your first year you will attend four workshops, including a noho marae workshop for:
- 75000 Orientation
- 75102 Learning Development and Culture
- 75103 Tangata Whenua 1
- 75105 Practicum Workshop.
Orientation workshops are held at the beginning of your study to help familiarise you with with the programme and how to study online. You will also gain an understanding of what to expect at workshops and tutorials and how to get support as you begin your journey towards becoming an early childhood education professional.
Second year workshops
In your second year you will attend three workshops including a noho marae workshop for:
- 75204 Curriculum 2
- 75201 Tangata Whenua 2
- 75205 Practicum Workshop.
Third year workshops
In your third year you will attend three workshops, including a noho marae workshop for:
- 75304 Research and Development
- 75301 Learning, Development & Culture and Tangata Whenua 3
- 75305 Practicum Workshop.
